Molde FK have officially confirmed the signing of forward Sander Kilen from Kristiansund. The 21-year-old arrives at the club after a prolonged pursuit, as reported by NRK Sport.

The club announced the arrival on Saturday, and the transfer was registered in the Norwegian Football Association's system before the weekend. Molde currently sit fourth in the Eliteserien with 27 points from 17 games. They have scored 32 goals and conceded 26, giving them a +6 goal difference. The team trails league leaders Bodø/Glimt by 14 points.

How did the transfer process unfold?

Molde made a bid for Sander Kilen earlier in August, before the two clubs were due to meet in the league. Kristiansund immediately rejected the offer. Following the rejection, Kristiansund reportedly submitted a derisory bid of their own for Molde star Emil Breivik in response. Kilen actually scored for Kristiansund in a 2-1 win over Molde FK earlier this season. But the chase was not over for Molde's management, who finally got their man.

Sander Kilen expressed great delight at joining the club. "Molde is a big club that I really wanted to come to," said the new forward. "The combination of the culture and the quality that is here suits me like a hand in a glove."

Who is the other new signing?

Simultaneously with the Kilen deal, Molde also confirmed the acquisition of striker talent Kristian Lonebu from Aalesund. According to Sunnmørsposten, the purchase price for Lonebu was around 35 million kroner. This marks a significant investment in the attacking line for a club coming off a 3-2 home win against Tromsø on August 16th.

With two new forwards in place, manager Erling Moe has more options. You can view the full squad on our squad page. The team's recent form is a win, a loss, a draw, another loss, and then a win (WLDWL). They are unbeaten in their most recent match.

What does this mean for the team's immediate future?

The capture of Kilen and Lonebu comes at a key point in the season. Molde have an important away fixture against Vålerenga on August 30th. Vålerenga currently sit 11th in the table. The win over Tromsø provided a vital boost, and now they are strengthening the squad further.

These signings show a clear intent to bolster the team to secure a top position and potentially close the gap to the summit. To follow the matches, you can check our fixtures calendar. The team's statistics, including the positive goal difference, are available on our stats page. With the reinforcements in place, the focus will now be on integrating the new players quickly and building on the momentum from the Tromsø victory.
