Molde opened the season with a win over Rosenborg, before two consecutive losses. Since then, they have found their form, and the win over Vålerenga takes the romsdølingers to 4th place after six games played. Molde won 5-1 over Vålerenga at Aker stadion, with two goals from Fredrik Gulbrandsen. Emil Breivik, Eirik Hestad and Sondre Milian Granaas also scored for Molde. Vålerenga coach Geir Bakke admits that the team was outplayed. Gulbrandsen sent the home team ahead in the first half, but was furious when the lead slipped away just before halftime. – It's completely unbelievable. It's a bunch of nonsense. We said it five times, 'Be calm, use time', so we managed to get taken on counter-attacks twice. I think it's completely ridiculous, said the 33-year-old to TV 2 in the break. And the veteran striker got an absolute response in the second half. For in the space of six minutes, the game was turned on its head. – It helped, of course. I got told off in the dressing room, so it helped, says Gulbrandsen after the game. First, Emil Breivik scored 2-1 in the 51st minute. Then Gulbrandsen scored his second of the day in the 55th minute. Eirik Hestad sent the home team up to 4-1 with a dream volley in the 57th minute. – It's a scoring for the history books, brayed TV2 commentator Petter Bø Tosterud as the ball kissed the crossbar on its way into the net. – It's a ball that comes high. I close my eyes and get a good touch. When you've played football at a decent level for 15 years, and this is the first time, you can say it's a bit of luck, says Hestad about the scoring. Teammate Emil Breivik thinks it was high time Hestad delivered a scoring like that. – I've been waiting for it. He has a father who has hammered it into his head that he has to wait long enough and let the ball come down far enough. It was nice to see him get recognition for the job he's done, he says. On the question of Breivik's performances, Hestad is crystal clear: – Of course, he will defend a place in the World Cup team, but we'll take it as it comes. 15-year-old Gabriel Rajkovic was close to reducing for the guests 20 minutes before the end, but a crucial intervention from Halldor Stenevik prevented the young boy. On the final whistle, 19-year-old Sondre Milian Granaas made things worse for the traveling supporters by scoring 5-1.
