Molde have officially signed Niklas Ødegård from league rivals Kristiansund on a five-year deal. The 22-year-old returns to the club where he progressed through the academy and made his first-team debut at 17 in 2021. Ødegård has previously played for KBK and HamKam on loan.

Why is Ødegård returning to Molde?

Ødegård explains that several factors influenced his decision to rejoin Molde. Discussions with the club were key, and he was particularly inspired by their current project. "There were several things that made this feel right. The conversations with the club were very good, and I was really excited by what’s happening at the club now," he says.

What does this mean for Molde?

With Ødegård’s arrival, Molde strengthen their attacking options. The club currently sit fifth in the Eliteserien with 23 points from 14 games, having scored 25 goals this season. Ødegård’s experience from both Molde’s academy and other clubs will be a valuable addition to the team.

What’s next for Molde?

Molde now face a crucial period in the season. They travel to Vålerenga on August 29, and with Ødegård in the squad, they can expect a boost in their attacking play. The club also faces challenges with injuries, as Mads Juhl Kikkenborg and Vebjørn Hoff are currently sidelined.

Ødegård has signed a contract running until the summer of 2030, a clear sign that Molde are focusing on long-term development. With a 15-point gap to the top of the Eliteserien, the club will hope Ødegård can help close the distance to the leading teams.
